Frequently Asked Questions

About the Breeder

Why did you start breeding?

I initially started breeding because I wanted a puppy. I had a male and a female, and they produced the most gorgeous pups! People noticed how I handled the breeding process and wanted puppies of their own. The fulfillment of seeing new puppies born, watching them grow, and helping shape and train them for their new forever homes is the most rewarding experience ever! It has been an absolute joy of a journey, and I am so happy to be able to share these wonderful dogs with other loving families.

What makes your program special?

I dedicate my time and energy to ensuring that all of my puppy buyers receive a thorough, professional, and exciting experience. I allow all buyers to come and play with their pups, I send daily videos of puppy activity, and I am available to guide them as they embark on this new and exciting journey. I also place a strong emphasis on training and socializing my healthy puppies. Each puppy is house and crate trained before they leave my home and are showered with lots of love and affection!

About the Training

Why is Early Scent Introduction (ESI) important?

The benefits of ESI include:

-Improves scenting ability later in life

-Enhances confidence and stability as adults

-Reduces behavioral issues long term

We begin ESI at day 3 and continue through day 16. During this period, we introduce one scent at a time and gauge the puppy's response. The scents used are comprised of earthy materials, strong fruits, and spices, ensuring a well-rounded sensory experience for our puppies.

Why is Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) important?

ENS offers several benefits, including boosting brain development, improving circulation and the immune system, stimulating the neurological system, and helping to manage stressors later in life. Additionally, it encourages a daily physical check of each puppy. We perform 5 exercises daily for 3-5 seconds, starting from day 3 through day 16, as part of our puppy guarantee to ensure optimal health and well-being.

When do you begin training?

We are committed to providing you with healthy puppies that make the perfect companions. We pride ourselves on creating a loving home environment for your puppy. Socialization starts as early as 2 weeks old, where I personally handle and cuddle them. The potty-training and crate training process begins at 6 weeks old, and each puppy is dewormed at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks old.

What is the Volhard Test?

A third party is used to assess each puppy for their 1) structure, 2) workability, 3) service potential, 4) therapy potential, and 5) companion/pet suitability. This assessment, known as the Volhard test, is conducted by someone not regularly acquainted with the puppies, focusing on instinct rather than taught behavior. Results are made available to anyone interested and included in the puppy packet.

What makes our breeding program worth it?

Health

As a responsible German Shepherd breeder, we ensure that both parents are on-site and health-tested for hips, elbows, and DM.

Our breedings are carefully scheduled; we take every precaution to avoid 'over breeding' our dogs. Our dogs are our pets first and foremost, and their safety and happiness are our top priorities.

Long term

During week 7, we take our puppies for a vet check-up and we provide a fecal sample for examination and all of the puppies receive their first set of vaccinations. Before leaving our care, puppies will be microchipped.
